Thirty seismometers in school

The total number of seismometer installed in schools under the framework of Seismology at school in Nepal program, reached 30 adding the newly installed 8 seismometers. Out of 30, twenty-two sensors were installed during the 2019 summer. The program has been running since 2018 to raise earthquake awareness and to prepare communities for future earthquakes. During the last two months even in the pandemic period, we succeed to install additional 7 seismometers. Some pictures collected from the field are presented here.

Field trip preparation for seismometer installation in additional 7 schools.

Newly installed RS3D seismometer at Shanti Secondary School, Baglung district. We started to use transparent box to keep sensor visible from now.

Self-funded RS4D installed at Nilkantha Secondary School in Dhading district.

Landscape of Upper Mustang. We have installed a seismometer in Upper Mustang at more than 3500 m elevation.

School in front of the Fishtail peak. Shree Machhapuchhre Secondary School, Bhurjung khola, Kaski district. A seismometer has been installed in this school.
