Earthquake Drill Video Competition 2026 Announced

On the occasion of the National Earthquake Safety Day on 16 January 2026, Seismology at School in Nepal is organizing the Earthquake Drill Video Competition 2026 to promote earthquake preparedness and safety awareness in school communities across Nepal. This initiative aims to encourage students and teachers to actively engage in practicing and demonstrating correct earthquake response behaviors through creative and educational video presentations.

Participants are invited to submit short videos with a maximum duration of three minutes in MP4 or MOV format. The videos should demonstrate earthquake drill practices in different school-based scenarios, including being outside the classroom, inside the classroom on the ground floor, and inside the classroom on the first floor. These scenarios are designed to reflect common situations faced during earthquakes and to reinforce appropriate safety actions.

To recognize outstanding contributions, cash prizes of NPR 5,000 will be awarded to each of the best three videos, along with a separate prize of NPR 5,000 for the best teacher contribution. All video submissions must be received by email no later than 15 February 2026 (updated deadline). Through this competition, Seismology at School in Nepal seeks to strengthen disaster preparedness education, foster a culture of safety in schools, and empower young learners to respond effectively during earthquakes.
