The mass movement and subsequent flood on August 26, 2026, near the Nepal-China border generated clear seismic signals that were recorded by several stations in our seismic network. The nearest station was located less than 60 km from the mass movement location.
The waveform recorded by our station in the Melamchi area clearly captures the seismic signal associated with the event, demonstrating the value of our program for monitoring large mass movements and flood-related processes.
